Frequently Asked Questions

  • Am I a represented employee or an unrepresented employee?
    • Employees in job classifications EG2 and EG3 are represented by SASDEA.
  • I’m in EG2 or EG3, but I’m not a member of SASDEA. Am I unrepresented?
    • SASDEA represents you.
  • If I am not a member, what does that mean for me?
    • If you are not a member, SASDEA still represents you in negotiations and labor discussions. However, you will not receive the benefits afforded to paying members, including assistance with employment concerns and legal matters.
  • How much are membership dues? When will membership dues start?
    • Membership dues are $45 per month ($22.50 will be collected from the first two paychecks of each month).
  • What are the benefits of being an SASDEA member?
    • Membership provides you with the following:
      • Access to legal representation with Goyette, Ruano & Thompson
      • Free consultations on non-work-related issues with Goyette, Ruano & Thompson
      • Assistance with contract and grievance issues

      • The ability to vote to accept or reject a proposed contract
  • Will I receive a COLA in June 2026?
    • Most EG2 and EG3 classifications will receive a COLA in 2026. Please refer to the MOU (contract) for your employee group.
  • What will the COLA be for this year?
    • When the COLA for 2026 is announced, SASDEA will communicate the information.
  • When will the next negotiation take place? How long will negotiations take?
    • 2028 for EG2, and 2029 for EG3. We will prepare for negotiations well in advance to have contracts in place with as little disruption to our members as possible.
  • How long will the contract last?
    • The contracts will likely be for 3 years. SacSewer intends to offset the negotiating years for each Employee Group so that only one contract will be negotiated per year.
  • Are the Board Members and Representatives compensated for union work?
    • No. Board members and representatives are not compensated for their union work.
